The vehicle roof is provided with a roof frame element (10) which has a design variant-spanning support portion (22) for the panels (24,26). The design variant-specific support portions (38,40) are provided in front side and back side, at which a design-variant-specific roof module (30) is supported. The roof frame element has two design variant-specific support portions for the openable roof module. An independent claim is included for a method for manufacturing a vehicle roof for a passenger car.
