PURPOSE: A torque sensor diagnosis method for an electric power steering system is provided to prevent erroneous failure diagnosis on a torque sensor due to a logic error before driving an MDPS(Motor Driven Power Steering System). CONSTITUTION: A torque sensor diagnosis method for an electric power steering system is as follows. When power is on by using a start key in a vehicle with an MDPS(Motor Driven Power Steering System), the position of a torque sensor is detected to determine failure at that time. If failure of the torque sensor is determined, the torque sensor is checked again with the engine on. If failure of the torque sensor is determined again, a torque sensor failure signal is generated and an alarm lamp is turned on.
