In certain aspects, the access terminal can begin a handover operation in the target node after determining whether the access terminal is granted access to the target node. In certain aspects, the starting node can prepare multiple target nodes for potential handover if ambiguity is detected or is likely. Then, the starting node can sent information associated with preparation of potential target nodes to the access terminal, whereby the access terminal uses the handover preparation information to initiate handover in that target node.EFFECT: high rate of transmitting data; ambiguity arising from assigning the same node identifier to multiple nodes is resolved using methods for detecting ambiguity and using unique node identifiers.51 cl, 28 dwg |
