<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller which is capable of displaying information on servers capable of reliably transmitting a content, even when the controller cannot receive a periodical survival-notification packet from a server. <P>SOLUTION: Even when a controller 100 does not receive from a server 200 a periodical survival-notification packet, the controller 100 determines whether the server 200 is actually capable of transmitting a content, using means which determines whether a server is capable of transmitting a content. If it is determined that the server 200 is capable of transmitting a content, the server 200 can be determined to be a survival server.
