[Classes 18, 66, 94 (i), and 94 (ii).] The closure portion a of a paper carton or receptacle A is precreased by introducing into the portion a a folding block 1 corresponding in shape to the space enclosed by the portion a if this were partly folded, and then pressing the walls of the closure portion against the folding block. As shown, the block 1 is supported on a table 15 and has a tapered upper part 20 to facilitate its insertion into the carton A, the mouth of which engages the table to define the extent to which the block is introduced into the carton. Folding cheeks 6, 7 are slidably mounted on the table 15 and have noses 4 and creasing ribs 11 which co-operate with recesses 2 and grooves 13 in two opposite sides of the block while pressing cheeks 8, 9 similarly mounted on the table have creasing ribs 10 co-operating with grooves 12 in the block. The block or the cheeks or both are preferably heated to facilitate the pre-creasing and the carton may be waxed. Specification 374,757 is referred to. |
