摘要 An enormous order-dependent quantum enhancement of thermoelectric effects in the vicinity of higher-order interferences has been discovered in the transmission spectrum of nanoscale junctions. Significant enhancements due to both transmission nodes and resonances across such junctions are exemplified by single-molecule junctions (SMJs) based on 3,3′-biphenyl and polyphenyl ether (PPE). Thermoelectric devices employing such SMJs offer superior efficiency and performance. Moreover, the enhanced thermoelectric response is not limited to only SMJs, but may be obtained from any junction exhibiting transmission nodes or resonances arising from coherent electronic transport.
