The objective of the present invention is to provide a communication terminal and a content update method in the communication terminal capable of updating content according to the type of the content at an optimal time. This communication terminal (100) is provided with: a content storage unit (101) for storing content which includes first time information indicating a maximum time unit among information configuring a time; a terminal information storage unit (102) for storing terminal information including second time information which indicates a time unit smaller than the maximum time unit and which has been assigned to each communication terminal; a time assessment unit (103) for assessing whether or not a time configured by the first time information and the second time information has been reached; and a content update unit (104) for performing update processing of the content if the time assessment unit (103) has assessed that the time configured by the first time information and the second time information has been reached. Accordingly, it is possible to distribute the content at an optimal time which corresponds to the type of the content.
