PURPOSE: An optical disk, an optical disk drive and a method for detecting errors are provided to calculate a second error code from backup data stored in the optical disc and compare the second error code with a first error code to detect the occurrence of error. CONSTITUTION: If an error confirmation mode is selected, a data record/reproduction unit reads data recorded in an optical disk(200). Based on data, an error code calculation unit calculates a second error code. An error code record/reproduction unit reads a first error code stored in an error code domain. An error code comparison unit(140) compares error codes. According to comparison result, a control unit(110) determines the occurrence of error.
