<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positive electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery comprising a lithium-nickel-manganese-cobalt composite oxide capable of enhancing the capacity per unit volume and the capacity retention ratio of a lithium secondary battery, to provide a method for manufacturing the same, and to provide a lithium secondary battery excellent in battery performance such as a capacity per unit volume and capacity retention ratio. <P>SOLUTION: A positive electrode active material powder for a lithium secondary battery is composed of secondary particles formed by the aggregation of primary particles composed of a lithium-nickel-manganese-cobalt composite oxide represented by the formula (1): Li<SB POS="POST">x</SB>Ni<SB POS="POST">1-y-z</SB>Mn<SB POS="POST">y</SB>Co<SB POS="POST">z</SB>O<SB POS="POST">2</SB>. The secondary particles constituting the positive electrode active material powder for a lithium secondary battery have an average particle size of 4 to 30 μm, and the pressure density of the positive electrode active material powder for a lithium secondary battery when compressed at 3 ton/cm<SP POS="POST">2</SP>is 3.55 g/cm<SP POS="POST">3</SP>or higher. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
