<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a propeller racing monitoring system capable of improving a navigational property of a ship. <P>SOLUTION: The system includes a laser oscillator 1 which is installed on a hull 10 to emit laser light 1a to a water surface 11, a water surface position detecting system which is provided with a plurality of optical sensors 2 which are installed on a sidewall of the hull 10 for detecting the scattering light of the laser light which is scattered on the water surface 11 for detecting a water surface position on the basis of them, and a propeller racing determination system which determines the possibility of propeller racing based on a relationship with the position of a propeller. If it is determined that the propeller racing is possible, a command which instructs the rotational speed of a propeller 3 to be lowered is supplied to a propulsion system 4. The water surface position detecting system quantitatively measures how a water surface condition around a ship changes in a sequential manner. If it is determined that the propeller 3 is exposed in air at a high possibility, a command which controls the propulsion system 4 to lower the rotational speed of the propeller 3 in advance is transmitted. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
