<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an amplifier that implements power saving. <P>SOLUTION: The amplifier includes: amplification means for amplifying a high frequency signal; selection means for selecting one from a plurality of choices including a first choice of amplifying the high frequency signal through the amplification means and including at least either a second choice of bypassing the amplification means in transmitting the high frequency signal or a third choice of cutting off the transmission of the high frequency signal; and a specific circuit. If the first choice is selected by the selection means, a supply current is supplied from a DC power supply to the amplification means and then the supplied supply current is supplied to the specific circuit via the amplification means.
