摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ranging method with an infrared camera. <P>SOLUTION: An infrared image of a mobile object including a target is optically scanned to acquire an infrared thermal image with an infrared camera, a predetermined threshold is set in order to section distribution of luminance values for all pixels of the infrared thermal image, the infrared thermal image of one frame is binarized by using a luminance value equal to or more than the threshold as 1, and a luminance value less than the threshold as 0, an assembly of the binarized images whose adjacent pixels are 1 as one group among the binarized images, windows so as to cover the one group are set to extract candidates for the target, the luminance values are integrated for the pixels included in the respective set windows, luminance equivalent to a calorific value to be emitted by the candidates for the target is calculated, a window in which the integrated value of the luminance increases for every frame is selected to extract the target, and relative distance is calculated from change for every frame of the target number of pixels and actual target size which is actual target size to be preset. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
