Disclosed is a method for transmitting system information, for realizing the transmission of system information and reducing interference when transmitting system information. The base station side method includes: a base station determining user equipment (UE) in a coverage hole; and the base station sending user specific signalling carrying system information to the UE in the coverage hole. The UE side method includes: UE receiving user specific signalling carrying system information; and the UE obtaining the system information from the user specific signalling. Also disclosed is a device for implementing the method.
