The fastening device (1) has holder (3) having spring seat (5) and axially movable cap (6), which is fastened to vehicle chassis (2). The thread (9) of the screw (8) is acted upon the thread (11) of the holder, and thread (10) of the screw is acted upon the thread (12) of the bolt (4). A spring element (7) is provided between spring seat and cap so that tightening of the screw is enabled. The cap is moved for tensioning the spring element such that the threads and spring element are moved with respect to each other so as to fix the component to the vehicle chassis. An independent claim is included for method for fastening component at vehicle chassis.
