PURPOSE: An information providing method and a portable terminal thereof are provided to guide a communication state and diverse information stored in a memory to a user and corresponding parties. CONSTITUTION: A voice codec unit(150) converts an analog voice signal received from a microphone into a digital voice signal. A voice text conversion unit(160) converts the digital voice signal received from the voice codec unit into text. A control unit(180) senses the occurrence of a searching command event during a call. The control unit searches a memory for information which matches the text received from the voice text conversion unit. The control unit controls a wireless communication unit in order to transmit the searched information to the terminal of a corresponding party.
