<p>Containers (2) are capped with snap-fit lids (4) by a machine comprising a first feed conveyor (6) on which the containers (2) advance spaced apart at a given pitch P, and a second feed conveyor (8) supplying the lids (4), located above the first conveyor (6). Operating between the first and second conveyors (6, 8) are a timing device (9) rotatable about a vertical axis, serving to space the lids (4) apart at the same pitch P as the containers (2), and a capping wheel (16) rotatable about a horizontal axis (17), interposed between the timing device (9) and the first conveyor (6) and revolving substantially tangential to the first conveyor (6) at a capping position (40); the capping wheel (16) comprises a drum (18), and a plurality of capping units (20) mounted to the drum (18) by way of respective toggle devices (25).</p> |
