PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To estimate knocking strength of an internal combustion engine in real time from a vibration sensor.
SOLUTION: In the internal combustion engine, a vibration signal representing vibration in a cylinder is continuously obtained as a function of a crankshaft angle by at least one vibration sensor in an outlet of a cylinder head. The method of estimating knocking strength in real time includes the steps of: constructing a wave equation model of the cylinder head from a physical model of describing propagation of a wave in a solid medium; determining coefficients of a Fourier decomposition of the vibration signal in real time by inverting dynamics of the wave equation model by using an estimator (REC); calculating energy included in the signal by determining the square sum of the coefficients of the Fourier decomposition (CAL); and estimating a parameter equal to a square root of the maximum value of the energy and correlating to the knocking strength in real time.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
