<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a meshing position of a pinion and a rack tooth from deviating from a proper position under a load imposed on a pinion shaft, to facilitate working and to suppress an increase in manufacturing cost. <P>SOLUTION: When the pinion shaft 107 is pushed upward by a thrusting force acting on the pinion shaft 107 from a wheel via a rack shaft 31 when traveling, a ball bearing 51 is pushed upward and an outer ring of the ball bearing 51 pushes a tapered snap ring 53 upward. Then, since an upper end face of the tapered snap ring 53 abuts on a lower end face 714 of a cylindrical fitting tube 711, upward movement of the ball bearing 51 and the tapered snap ring 53 is obstructed. Thus, the meshing position of the pinion 41 and the rack tooth 32 is maintained at the proper position to avoid noise generation and steering force fluctuation. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
