[Class 65 (i).] In vehicle doors automatically operable, wedging means is provided to prevent vertical play of the door when closed, whereby the strain upon the door hinges is relieved and rattling prevented. The bottom of the door and the body sill are provided with co-operating wedge members 16, 17 to prevent sagging and to relieve the hinges when the door is shut. The top of the door is similarly provided with a fixed rigid wedge member 28 while the roof sill is provided with a resiliently movable co-operating wedge member 20 mounted in a dove-tail manner in a guide block 24, springs 23 mounted as shown on guide rods 22 urging the member 20 towards the flange 24<1>. The usual buffer stops are provided. A recess may be provided in the member 20 to contain wick and oil for lubricating purposes. |
