The present invention is related to a method for accessing a signal in a set or matrix of a plurality of elements (300) being sensors and/or actuators, said method comprising the steps of:
- determining a selection of active elements (200) forming a subset among said plurality of elements (300) whereby each active element (200) of said subset is arranged for generating and/or receiving a signal (600),
- storing said selection of active elements (200) in a local memory (400),
- accessing at least one element (200) of said stored selection for accessing said signal.
