The trip device (10) has a disk (11) proportional to movement of a lift car and rotatable relative to a trip element (14). A coupling mechanism (60) is arranged between the disk and the trip element. The disk and the coupling mechanism are connected to each other independent of a relative position. Rotation of the disk is transferable to the trip element in a coupled state of the device. A tripping delay device is arranged between the coupling mechanism and the trip element. A reset device returns the coupling mechanism in a starting position.
