<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an articulated arm which has a high degree of accuracy, high reliability and durability, substantial ease of use and low cost. <P>SOLUTION: An articulated arm CMM1 comprises a plurality of transfer members 20, a plurality of articulation members 30 to 36 connecting at least two transfer members 20 to each other, a coordinate acquisition member 50 at a distal end, and a base 10 at a proximal end.
