<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seatbelt retractor whose manufacture cost is reduced. <P>SOLUTION: The retractor includes a winding drum 13 for winding a webbing, and a pretensioner unit, which rotates the winding drum 13 in the direction of winding the webbing. Then, the pretensioner unit has: a pinion gear 165, which can rotate interlocking with the winding drum 13; a piston 164, which has a rack 642 for engaging with the pinion gear 165 to rotate the winding drum 13 in the direction of winding via the pinion gear 165; a tubular and circular cylinder 162, which is circular in cross section to house the piston 164 to keep shiftable; and a driving mechanism, which drives the piston 164. Furthermore, the piston 164 has a contact face 644, which can come into contact with the inner wall of the tubular cylinder 162, behind the rack 642, wherein the tubular cylinder 162 has such a length of tube as not to expose the contact section 644 in a range where the piston 164 can shift. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
