<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module in which multiple optical semiconductor elements arranged on one plane in a substrate are effectively optically-coupled to each of waveguide cores in a flat plate-type optical waveguide. <P>SOLUTION: An optical module is made up such that multiple optical semiconductor elements 13 are optically coupled to each of multiple waveguide cores 11a which are formed in an arrangement of a row on a plane type optical waveguide 11. The optical module includes an optical fiber holding base 15 on which multiple optical fibers 18 making the waveguide cores 11a optically coupled to the optical semiconductor elements 13 are mounted. One end part of the optical fibers 18 is held in alignment with the optical axes of the multiple optical waveguide cores 11a in an opposing arrangement to each other, and the other end part in the opposite side thereof is held in an opposing arrangement to each other in alignment with each of the optical axes of the multiple optical semiconductor elements 13 which are arranged in at least two rows or more and arranged on the same plane in an array substrate 12. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
