The motor vehicle (1) has a wheel hub (5) and a wheel close-electric machine (9) of a power source (3), by which the wheel hub is driven. The electric machine has a coupling device, by which the wheel hub is selectively coupled or separated to the electric machine in a rotating manner. The coupling device has a coaxial shift collar arranged to an output shaft of the electric machine and an output drive gear driven from an output shaft of the electric machine. An independent claim is included for a method for controlling the electrical power source of a motor vehicle.
