<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To divide a permanent magnet base material by a small loading. <P>SOLUTION: A device 1 for dividing a permanent magnet base material is configured to fix the permanent magnet base material 40 by a movable retainer 2 and a static retainer 3, rotate the movable retainer 2 about a movable part rotation axis 22, and divide the permanent magnet base material 40 to form division surfaces. The movable part rotation axis 22 is offset in a direction perpendicular to the division surfaces so as to be positioned on a side of the static retainer 3.
