<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light adjusting device capable of minimizing the thickness of the device. <P>SOLUTION: The light adjusting device includes: first and second substrates each having an opening at least at one side, a spacing part, and a shaft member as a rotation center; and incident light adjusting means and at least one drive means that drives the incident light adjusting means. The light adjusting device drives the incident light adjusting means to rotate between the opening and a retreat position retreating from the opening by driving means to adjust the incident light which passes through the opening. The driving means is configured including a magnet disposed around the rotation center of the incident light adjusting means and a coil wound on a coil core. The coil core is disposed on the first substrate facing to the magnet. The coil core is configured including a coil forming portion where the coil is disposed and a joint portion where the coil is not disposed.
