<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of suppressing waste of power by using a storage battery. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises a normal operation part which operates during a normal mode and stops during a power saving mode and a permanent operation part which operates during both the normal mode and the power saving mode. A power supply part includes: an AC-DC conversion part; a battery which supplies power to the normal operation part; a first switch part which turns on and off supply of output of the AC-DC conversion part to the normal operation part; a charging route through which the battery is charged by the output of the AC-DC conversion part; and a second switch part which, separately from the first switch part, switches to one of a non-charging state, a first charging state in which charging is performed with a small current, and a second charging state in which charging is performed with a large current. The first switch part is on during the normal mode and is off during the power saving mode, and the second switch part is in a non-charging state regardless of a mode when the battery is not charged, while when the battery is charged, it is in the first charging state during the normal mode and is in the second charging state during the power saving mode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
