FIXING DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prolong the life of a fixing belt in a resistance heat-generating type fixing device.

SOLUTION: There is provided a fixing device in which a pressure roller 150 loosely inserted into the inside of a circulation path of an endless fixing belt 154 including a resistance heat-generating layer 154b is pressed from the outside of the fixing belt 154 through the fixing belt 154 by a pressure roller 160 to form a fixing nip between the surface of the fixing belt 154 and the pressure roller 160 and a sheet on which an unfixed image is formed is passed through the fixing nip to thermally fix the image. The fixing device has a configuration in which power is supplied by pressing a power feeding member 170b and a power feeding member 170a disposed in a position closer to the fixing nip than the power feeding member 170a to at least one of electrode layers 154e of a pair of annular electrode layers 154e disposed sandwiching the sheet passing range on the outer peripheral surface of the fixing belt 154 and the pressing force of the power feeding member 170b is smaller than the pressing force of the power feeding member 170a.
