<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricating oil composition that has a low molybdenum content and yet exhibits excellent friction reduction. <P>SOLUTION: The lubricating oil composition comprises a lubricant base oil, (A) a phosphate metal salt represented by general formula (1) and (B) an organomolybdenum compound having a ratio of the molybdenum element to the sulfur element of 1:≥3.5. In the formula, R<SB POS="POST">1</SB>to R<SB POS="POST">4</SB>are the same or different and are each a 1-30C hydrocarbon group, or a 1-30C alkyl or alkenyl group, or an alkylthioethyl group comprising a 1-30C alkyl group; X<SB POS="POST">1</SB>, X<SB POS="POST">2</SB>, X<SB POS="POST">3</SB>and X<SB POS="POST">4</SB>are each sulfur or oxygen; either one or both of X<SB POS="POST">1</SB>and X<SB POS="POST">2</SB>are oxygen; either one or both of X<SB POS="POST">3</SB>and X<SB POS="POST">4</SB>are oxygen; and Y is a metal element. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
