PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease accumulation of hydrogen within a containment vessel while allowing prevention of hydrogen explosion even in the case of hydrogen leakage occurring within a nuclear reactor building and also enclosing radioactivity produced in a reactor core therewithin, even when all power supplies are lost and hydrogen generated within a nuclear reactor pressure vessel is discharged together with steam into the containment vessel.
SOLUTION: In order to solve the above-described problem, according to a nuclear power plant including a reactor core isolation cooling system that can discharge steam containing hydrogen from a nuclear reactor pressure vessel into a containment vessel even when all power supplies are lost, there is provided in the middle of the reactor core isolation cooling system with an oxygen generator containing metal oxide used for generating oxygen that is to be used for a reaction with hydrogen generated within the nuclear reactor pressure vessel; and a recombiner located downstream of the oxygen generator and containing a catalyst used for recombining hydrogen generated within the nuclear reactor pressure vessel with oxygen to convert it back into water.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
