Provided are a communication method, user equipment, a base station and a communication device. The method includes: a base station sending to user equipment (UE) a random access response message, the random access response message containing a timing advance command, wherein the length of the timing advance command is at least 12 bits or the value thereof is greater than 1282 (110). A time advance command with a length of at least 12 bits or a value of greater than 1282 can be sent to UE within a random access response message from a base station according to the embodiments of the present invention, enabling the UE to use a larger time alignment amount when performing time alignment, thus the coverage of cells at a relatively far distance can be supported.
