COMPUTER SYSTEM WITH MULTIPLE OPERATION MODES AND METHOD OF SWITCHING MODES THEREOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the efficiency of a hard disk drive in turning on/off a computer and accessing stored data.

SOLUTION: In a computer system 10 with multiple operation modes and a method of switching modes, the computer system switches the operation modes of multiple hard disk drives 105 by a setting signal. A chip unit 101 detects the number of hard disk drives 1052 with no storage of a boot program and the chip unit decides the operation mode of RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks). The chip unit produces a corresponding control signal and transmits the control signal to a switch unit 103. The switch unit 103 produces a setting signal according to the control signal and transmits the setting signal to the hard disk device.
