<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silica-carbon composite porous body in which particulate carbon is uniformly dispersed up to the inside of a silica skeleton to exhibit excellent electrical conductivity, and a method for manufacturing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The silica-carbon composite porous body is obtained as follows: a silicate ester or a polymer thereof is used as a silica raw material; particulate carbon is added to the silica raw material and mixed; the silica raw material is hydrolyzed in the mixture to form a codispersion of silica and carbon; and silica contained in the codispersion is turned into a gel to make the codispersion porous. The silica-carbon composite porous body is prepared so as to have a specific surface area of 20-1,000 m<SP POS="POST">2</SP>/g, a pore volume of 0.3-2.0 ml/g and an average pore diameter of 2-100 nm. In the silica-carbon composite porous body, particulate carbon is uniformly dispersed up to the inside of a silica skeleton to exhibit excellent electrical conductivity. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
