[Class 115] A davit arm is manufactured with a metal trough-shaped body with a metal plate 8 welded thereon so as to leave portions of the side walls of the trough projecting beyond the web. The trough as shown is composed of three metal strips welded on their abutting edges, but it may also be composed of a single metal strip bent to the required shape. The channel thus formed may be employed to guide the skates with which life-boats are sometimes equipped. Specification 395,391 is referred to. |
