A portable electronic device has a body section provided with a waterproof region, and a lid covering the waterproof region. Either the lid or the body section is provided with: a sealing member, which is in contact, across the entire periphery of the waterproof region, with a contact surface formed on one surface of the other of the lid or the body section, and which seals the waterproof region; and a defining section for defining the position of the sealing member.
