<p>A method for discovering an optical network unit, including: an optical line terminal broadcasts a gate frame to an optical network unit, and if an uplink response from the optical network unit is received outside the registration windowed time, then it is decided that there is a newly-added optical network unit; the optical line terminal adjusts the number of halt frames and broadcasts a halt frame to the optical network unit according to the adjusted number of halt frames; and the optical line terminal sends a request to the optical network unit so as to acquire the serial number and ranging information about the newly-added optical network unit. Accordingly, further provided are a device for discovering an optical network unit and a passive optical network system. The present invention can automatically discover a newly-added optical network unit outside the configuration range of the passive optical network and acquire the serial number and ranging information about the newly-added optical network unit. In addition, further provided is a technical solution for adjusting the configuration range of a passive optical network so that the optical line terminal can register the whole or part of the discovered newly-added optical networks on line.</p> |
