AQUEOUS EMULSION COMPOSITION, WATER-BASED COATING MATERIAL COMPOSITION AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous emulsion composition useful for use in a water-based coating material composition forming a coated film excellent in hydrophilicity, elongation and gloss.

SOLUTION: This aqueous emulsion composition includes: a polymer (A) obtained by polymerizing an ethylenically unsaturated monomer mixture (ii) satisfying the equation (2) in the presence of a polymer obtained by polymerizing an ethylenically unsaturated monomer mixture (i) satisfying the equation (1); silica (B); an anionic surfactant (C) and a nonionic surfactant (D). The water-based coating material composition is obtained by formulating a colorant to the aqueous emulsion composition. A method of producing the water-based coating material composition is also disclosed. The equation (1) is Tg(i)<10°C. The equation (2) is 30°C≤Tg(ii)<55°C. The Tg(i) is a glass transition temperature determined from Fox calculating formula for the copolymer (i). The Tg(ii) is a glass transition temperature determined from Fox calculating formula for the copolymer (ii).
