PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing cubic phosphor powder, capable of producing the cubic phosphor powder without addition of an excessive force to a phosphor and suppressing variation in size of the resulting phosphor powder.

SOLUTION: The method for producing the cubic phosphor powder includes: a phosphor growth step of growing a monocrystalline phosphor which emits a wavelength conversion light when excited with a predetermined excitation light; and a division step of mechanically dividing the grown monocrystalline phosphor into the cubic phosphor powder.
