<p>[Problem] To provide: a method for measuring spontaneous pain in a chronic pain model animal; and a method for screening for a therapeutic or prophylactic agent for chronic pain. [Solution] The present invention relates to: a method for measuring spontaneous pain, which includes a step of measuring repetitive behaviors of a model animal by using an apparatus equipped with a means for detecting the change in a magnetic field according to the repetitive behaviors of a model animal; and a method for screening for a therapeutic or prophylactic agent, which includes steps of using the above-mentioned method to measure the number of times the model animal carries out the repetitive behaviors, selecting a test substance that reduces the number of times the model animal carries out the repetitive behaviors, and so on.</p>
