<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce load on a moving mechanism when a cartridge is inserted into a cartridge holder. <P>SOLUTION: A cartridge conveyance device comprises: a cartridge holder 35 holding a cartridge 1 accommodating a recording medium therein; a support frame supporting the cartridge holder such that the cartridge is freely moved between an insertion position in which the cartridge is inserted and a retraction position; locking members 26 and 27 moved between a locking position in which the cartridge holder is locked and a non-locking position, and moved to the locking position to thereby lock the cartridge holder at the insertion position; a holder drive member 43 movable in a predetermined direction and moves the cartridge holder between the insertion position and the retraction position; and moving mechanisms 24 and 25 that move the holder drive member in the predetermined direction.
