<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately identify an object in an object identification device for identifying the type of an object which exists in the periphery of a vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: A collision prevention system is configured to acquire object information including the information of reflection intensity and a distance to an object in the periphery of a user vehicle acquired by irradiating the periphery of the vehicle with an acoustic wave or an electromagnetic wave, and detecting the reflection wave of the acoustic wave or electromagnetic wave (S110); to acquire the information of the height of the object (S130); to correct the reflection intensity in accordance with the height of the object and the distance to the object (S140); and to identify the classification of the object in accordance with the corrected reflection intensity (S170 to S280). Therefore, it is possible to correct the reflection intensity to remove elements disturbing the normal detection of the reflection intensity.
