<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent flip-flop, rattle, wear, etc., by holding a vane rotor at an intermediate position at the start in a valve timing changing device. <P>SOLUTION: The valve timing changing device includes a housing rotor 30, the vane rotor 20, an advance passage 13 communicated with an advance chamber through which a hydraulic fluid passes, a retard passage 14 communicated with a retard chamber through which a hydraulic fluid passes, and a lock mechanism 40 for locking the vane rotor at an intermediate position with respect to the housing rotor, the locking of which is released by the oil pressure of the hydraulic fluid. The lock mechanism 40 includes an advance lock bar 42 and a retard lock bar 44. The advance passage 13 is formed so as to guide the oil pressure of the hydraulic fluid to release the locking of the advance lock bar and the retard lock bar, and the retard passage 14 is formed so as to guide the oil pressure of the hydraulic fluid to maintain the release of the locking of the retard lock bar only. With this configuration, the phase of the vane rotor can be retained at the intermediate position at the start of an engine, thereby securing stable startability of the engine. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
