The method involves obtaining X-ray image records concerning a portion of heart (28) of patient (30) after introducing an ultrasound head (24) into coronary vessel (26). A subtraction image data set is calculated based on the obtained X-ray image records. A segmenting process concerning subtraction image data is performed to identify the data assigned with ultrasound head. The data of specific X-ray image record is assigned with data of subtraction image data set to determine geometric association. The ultrasound head is located based on the geometric association. An independent claim is included for an X-ray image receiving device.
