<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus which can suppress or prevent, e.g., increase of processing time and consumed electric power when signal processing for an image having a high resolution is performed, and is adequate to practical use. <P>SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus includes a characteristic point extracting section and a signal processing section. The characteristic point extracting section is configured to analyze a frequency component of an inputted image and extract a plurality of pixels characterizing the image as a plurality of characteristic points. The signal processing section is configured to perform signal processing for the plurality of extracted pixels corresponding to the respective characteristic points, produce an interpolated value on the basis of a result of the signal processing, and rewrite a value of at least one pixel other than the characteristic points to the interpolated value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
