<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus to which an appropriate use mode can be set corresponding to a subject. <P>SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus is provided with: an information acquisition part for acquiring information on a subject; and a control part which performs use mode switching control for switching a configured first use mode to a second use mode different from the first use mode according to the information. The first use mode is a mode for performing a focusing operation corresponding to the movement of a person in the subject. The information acquisition part detects a face in the subject and acquires information on the face of the subject as information on the subject.
