<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detection device, a battery pack, and a sales data processing device capable of recognizing that a secondary battery is not chargeable/dischargeable. <P>SOLUTION: A detection device according to an embodiment comprises: detection means; determination means; and notification means. The detection means causes a secondary battery having a nonrestoring safety mechanism to interrupt charging and detects a voltage of the secondary battery. The determination means determines whether the safety mechanism has operated on the basis of the voltage of the secondary battery detected by the detection means.
