The device (1) has an electrical energy storage unit (3) e.g. lithium ion cell, arranged in a housing (2), and a protective device (6) arranged outside the housing and secured at the housing. The protective device exhibits material with resilient properties or a suspension mechanism with resilient properties, so that the housing is resiliently storable by the protective device. The protective device comprises supplementary damping properties, so that a spring damping system is formed. The energy storage unit is kept at moderate temperature by a moderate temperature maintaining device (5). The suspension mechanism is selected from a group comprising a hydraulic shock absorber, a mechanical shock absorber such as friction damper, and electrical generators such as electromotor and piezoelements. An independent claim is also included for an energy storage system.
