<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ion current detecting device whose cost is reduced. <P>SOLUTION: This ion current detecting device includes: an ignition coil 1 having a primary coil L1 and secondary coil L2 electromagnetically coupled mutually; a switching element 2 that receives DC (direct-current) voltage of a DC power supply VB via the primary coil L1 and controls ON or OFF of the current of the primary coil; an ignition plug PG discharging based on a high voltage induced in the secondary coil L2 during an OFF operation of the switching element 2; a signal detecting circuit 3 for detecting an ion signal Vo corresponding to the ion current io flowing in the ignition plug PG based on the DC voltage of the DC power supply; a voltage detecting circuit 4 for detecting the voltage level of the DC voltage Vb of the DC power supply; and a computer circuit 5 for receiving detection outputs from the signal detecting circuit 3 and voltage detecting circuit 4.
