<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a phenylhydrazine (II) in good yield. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided a method for producing a phenylhydrazine (II) comprising reacting a diazonium salt (I) with at least one selected from the group consisting of sulfites and hydrogensulfites in the presence of water, mixing the obtained reaction mixture with hydrogen chloride at 0-10°C, and maintaining the resultant mixture at 10-30°C.
